Dr David Middlemiss PhD

Dr David Middlemiss, PhD is founder of XaviaPharm, an independent consultancy, which specializes in Medicinal Chemistry, Drug Discovery and strategic analysis. He is also a co-founder and Director of Theradeas Ltd., and Pharmadeas Ltd.

He is a Medicinal Chemist by training and has 40 years experience in the Pharmaceutical industry. Formerly International Therapeutic Research Director for Cardiovascular Diseases at GlaxoWellcome, he has extensive experience of the pharmaceutical business in most disease areas from genetics through to the market place and has taken 12 drug candidates into clinical development. At GlaxoWellcome he drove the thinking around Product Profiles and led the global team of Clinical and Commercial Directors that developed and prioritised the organization’s target Product Profiles. At GSK he briefly served as World-wide Director, Genetics Portfolio where he was accountable for prioritizing the organizations genetics research programs.

XaviaPharm was founded in 2002 and its clients include Advent, Argenta, Atlasventure, Axis-Shield, CareX, Celltech, Cellzome, Chroma Therapeutics, DaraBiosciences, Etiologics, Evotec, Faust Pharmaceuticals, Fovea, , Index Ventures, Lectus, Leo Pharma, Merck AG, MVM, Nuadapharma, Oxagen, Replizyme, Quester, Ribotargets, Sofinnova, Taylor-Wessing and the Wellcome Trust.

Dr Middlemiss is a member of the Scientific Advisory Boards for Argenta, Cellzome and Fovea and was Chairman of the CareX Scientific Advisory Board. He also regularly provides due diligence reviews of investment opportunities for venture capitalists.
