How FibroAction Can Help Local Support Groups
Free web hosting/publicity
The FibroAction online Support Group Directory offers a free no-strings-attached publicity opportunity for local support groups.
Each group is given its own webpage within the Support Group Directory and the way the website is built and optimised means that it is simple for search engines such as Bing or Google to find the group details. On the group's page, you can put as much or as little information as you want, including contact details, meeting details and links to your own group website, if you have one.
Listing on the FibroAction Support Group Directory is open to any UK group providing support to people with Fibro, no matter what other organisations or charities you may be involved with.
If you run a UK support group providing support to people with Fibro and would like your group's details to be publicised on the FibroAction Support Group Directory, please contact the admin team. Include the group's name, the area it covers, a website address if you have one, at least one method of contact and any details (such as of meetings) that you would like listed. We only ask that, if the group has a website with a links page, a link to FibroAction's website is added to that page.
Event listing
As well as being able to give out general details of meetings on a group's page in the FibroAction Support Group Directory, talks and special events can also be publicised through the Events section of the FibroAction website. Just email us with details.
Flyers, Fact Sheets & Posters
FibroAction supply flyers with basic information about Fibro to groups and clinics around the UK. We do this as part of our core charitable work at no cost to groups. The A5 flyers are useful to hand out at events, send out to new group members or have displayed in surgeries & clinics. Just contact us to request a pack of flyers.
FibroAction also produce more in-depth fact sheets that anyone can download & print off. These can provide groups with an easy way of supplying members with detailed information about Fibro.
FibroAction are now producing A4 posters with information about Fibro and space for groups to add their own contact information. These are ideal to get put up in local hospitals, doctors surgeries and clinics. Contact us if you're interested.
Advice
As well as all the above, FibroAction help support local Support Groups with advice, whether it's on recent research or how to set up a group website for next to nothing.
How Groups Can Get Involved
Pass on information
If we let you know about a piece of news, a research study looking for participants or an event we've got coming up, then group leaders can really help by passing that information on to their members.
Volunteer
If we're organising an event, then we can often do with more volunteers to help out, especially as don't have teams of people all around the country!
Or perhaps you, or a member of your local group, have skills and enthusiam for getting involved with Fibro awareness on a national level? Raising awareness of Fibro in the UK is a huge task and we can always do with more help.
Join the Council of Members
Our Council of Members can hold the board of trustees of FibroAction to account, helping make sure that we do a good job.
Council members are individuals or organisations - such as local support groups - who have either made a significant contribution to FibroAction's aims or who, through virtue of their skills, experience and enthusiasm, are likely to make a significant contribution to FibroAction's aims in the future. Council members have the right to vote at General Meetings of FibroAction. Council members are either invited to join by the Board of Trustees, or are proposed by existing Council members.
If you would like to suggest an individual or organisation (such as a support group) for membership of FibroAction's Council of Members, but you do not know any current Council Members, please contact FibroAction.
