Dr Daniel Clauw MD
Daniel Clauw MD is a world renowned expert on Fibromyalgia Syndrome who has authored over 100 scientific papers as well as a number of book chapters.
Dr Clauw is a Professor of Anesthesiology and Medicine (in the Division of Rheumatology) at the University of Michigan, USA. He serves as Director of the Chronic Pain and Fatigue Research Center and also as Director of the Michigan Institute for Clinical and Health Research at the University of Michigan. Additionally, he serves as Associate Dean for Clinical and Translational Research within the University of Michigan Medical School.
Dr Clauw attended the University of Michigan for both undergraduate and medical school studies, before completing his Internal Medicine residency and Rheumatology Fellowship at Georgetown University. He joined the faculty at Georgetown University in 1990, and while there, served as the Scientific Director of the Georgetown Chronic Pain and Fatigue Research Center, the Division Chief of Rheumatology, Immunology and Allergy, and a Vice Chair of the Department of Medicine.
Since moving to the University of Michigan in 2001, Dr. Clauw has continued his commitment to the clinical care and research into Fibromyalgia Syndrome and overlapping conditions such as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS), Gulf War Illnesses, and Multiple Chemical Sensitivity (MCS). He leads a multidisciplinary team of collaborators at the University of Michigan, Georgetown University, the American National Institute of Health, the American Department of Defense and Veteran's Administration, and other academic medical centers, who are studying the mechanisms and most effective treatments of these illnesses.
